Your players won’t remember everything you taught, but they will remember how you made them feel. They will either grow up wanting to coach like you, or determined to be nothing like you.

The focus should have been on the game, the tactics, the players. Instead, it shifted to a coach who let ego get in the way of grace. In one of the biggest moments in women’s basketball, that’s disappointing. The game belongs to the players. A moment taken away from @GamecockWBB @dawnstaley #marchmadness

This is coaching. This is not about creating fear. It’s about saying I believe in you! How many HS and youth coaches do not even acknowledge when a player comes off the court …too many. If the HC can’t, then the AC should. Don’t have a silent bench for your players after they are subbed off. Coach them up!

I watched a lot of games this weekend - different sports, same issue. Too many coaches yelling and breaking players down during games.
We need two coaching voices:
One for practice - to teach, challenge, correct.
One for games - to encourage, guide, trust.

If we coach fear, players freeze. If we coach belief, players flourish.

Do your job at practices. Lift them up on game day.
