The most insidious consequence of colonialism is how it captured our imaginations. It’s hard to think of good governance outside of “democracy” or economic prosperity outside of “capitalism.” We have to unlearn these paradigms & reclaim different ways of being in the world.
Every person on the U.S. should see this as a categorical “fuck you” from our elected officials. They force us every fucking day to live our lives without the barest modicum of support or stability as we increasingly drown in debt and barely make ends meet and pass THIS instead.
“I have no mercy or compassion in me for a society that will crush people, and then penalise them for not being able to stand up under the weight.” —Malcolm X

@RWJFleadership program, where I’ll use my doctoral research centering the lived experiences of Black and Brown youth to create culturally relevant interventions that advance health equity through policy and build a #CultureofHealth!
