Question for @joerogan
I'm a former USMC fighter pilot who flew the AV8A “Harrier." LA times won Pulitzer in 2002 (great read) for writing 3-part article about the Harrier as "widow maker." 45 elite pilots killed in early days, 70s and 80s, many were my friends (for two great patriots, I shared their last night on earth). Flying this beast could be unforgiving, staggering number of crash related glitches (some pilot error), heart breaking personal stories, capitol hill intrigue. But vertical takeoff and land concept proved out i.e., F35B, which has vertical capabilities. I even demonstrated Harrier on national TV.
Do you think the early Harrier story would be of any interest to a podcast such as yours? I have been talking to a producer about a documentary and he asked me that question.
2026 update on this gem: Still channeling my parents' class in real life, but scrolling X now? Seeing more wild stuff. My inner monologue's gone full savage mode 🤯.
I've always tried to embody civility, manners, humility, compassion etc. My parents were great examples, true class. What's interesting though is my inner dialogue when scrolling down these pages. God forbid those thought bubbles becoming exposed. My cover would be blown.🤬
as i've gotten older, i think i've become better at seeing the good in people. clearly, God's humanity has revealed extraordinary people through the ages. their souls radiate by God's grace, their eyes are windows to inner beauty, and their works are life affirming.
and then you have people who celebrate the killing of a remarkable young man, Charlie Kirk. well, they too have souls, but corrupted ones. unfathomable to me, but the soul, their great gift from God, has been defiled by free will succumbing to evil. you see these despicable human variants and hear them and i can only think of detritus, swill, scum. behind their vacant eyes, one only confronts nothingness.
