A ray of hope!
Two of the scientists who helped create the dietary guidelines now say they are wrong:
"The guidelines..maintain an unfounded hostility towards saturated fats, ignoring the last decade’s worth of evidence challenging their link to heart disease. Failure to update this science has meant the continued unjustified demonization of nutrient-dense foods such as eggs, meat and full-fat dairy, which together play a crucial role in a healthy diet."
The comments are by Prof Janet C. King, at the University of California, Berkeley, chair of the 2005 Dietary Guidelines Committee and Cheryl Achterberg of Ohio State University and a member of the 2010 Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee.

Now we just need the dietitians and public health experts, whose promotion of these unscientific guidelines has inflicted suffering and deathbon tens of millions of people, to acquire a little humility and change their ways.
@X What a great feeling! Patient in mid-forties newly diagnosed HbA1c 90 4 months ago, now HbA1c 36, just by changing what they eat - changed to a very low carbohydrate diet - potentially less to worry about in the future healthwise . One up for therapeutic CHO reduction!
Just returning from Christchurch Hospital grand round where I was able to present our audit data on improving/reversing prediabetes & type 2 diabetes. It was well received & I feel very positive that some of the people that matter are listening.
What are the chances that meat, eggs, saturated fat, and full-fat dairy—foods we've eaten for thousands of years—are suddenly the villains behind the surge in obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and cancer in the last 50-100 years? Meanwhile, all the processed foods and ingredients invented in that same time frame are somehow off the hook? Make it make sense!
Amputations are so very rare in people with Type 2 diabetes who eat nutrient dense food that doesn’t put their blood sugar up Neil this is a scandal Well done for your coverage 👍😊
Wrote 'nutritionanal science' in a social media response.
That must be what I am truly thinking.
Freudian slip this morning. 🤦♂️
Any other typos summing up 'nutritional non-science' out there?
