The Nigerian government bears a huge responsibility for the insecurity that has continued to ravage the country. We Nigerians must not remain silent while innocent citizens are being killed, kidnapped and displaced.
For more than two decades, successive Nigerian governments have promised to defeat insecurity, yet terrorism, banditry and kidnapping remain major national problems. Recent data reported that 7,825 people were abducted between July 2025 and June 2026, while over 300,000 people were killed.
We must use our platforms to speak out, demand accountability and draw attention to the suffering of victims. We should also demand that credible allegations against individuals suspected of sponsoring, financing or facilitating terrorism and other violent crimes be properly investigated.
Nobody should be above the law because of their political position, ethnicity, religion or connections.
Nigeria cannot continue like this. We must refuse to normalize insecurity, demand answers from those in authority, and keep speaking for the innocent Nigerians whose lives and livelihoods are being destroyed.
