HS Athletes of the Week: Daniel Bautista ‘27 and Marcus Torvik ‘29
A pair of wrestlers are our High School Athletes of the Week as these two individuals stood out and helped the team accomplish greatness too. At the Christian Brothers Duals in Memphis, MBA’s Varsity team took home second in a competitive field led by the tournament’s Most Outstanding Wrestler Daniel Bautista. Meanwhile, in Nashville at the Freshman City Championship, the Big Red finished fifth out of 67 teams with Marcus Torvik taking home first in his weight class.
JS Athlete of the Week: Zander Pughsley ‘31
Junior School Basketball A was a winner at Ensworth last week, picking up a key victory in their division of the HVAC. Led by Zander Pughsley’s 11 points, the Big Red defeated the Tigers 33-31. Zander, a seventh grader on a team of largely eighth graders, is the team’s top scorer on the season and earned accolades at the winter break tournament with an All-Tournament Team nod.

Marcel Reed '23 led Texas A&M to college football's biggest comeback this season on Saturday and has the Aggies off to a 10-0 start. Check out this quote and more in the AP News story on Reed's leadership style!
“It’s cool to be the person that you always dreamt of being. I wanted to be a college football player and succeeding at the highest level. And there are people before me who I looked up to, so it’s just great to be in this position and have other people look up to me. And I try my best every day to go out there and put on a great example for the younger ones.”
