In April 2018, Charlie was texting Candace during a very difficult time when he was facing intense backlash. He compared himself to Moses, saying he might not live to see the end of the fight he was in. He then told Candace:
“If that is the case, be my David.”

This was Charlie’s way of saying: If I don’t make it, you be the one to fight the giants (Goliath). You be the one to finish what I started.

Candace has referenced this text multiple times, especially after Charlie’s assassination, saying that Charlie essentially passed the torch to her with those words.
