Took a group of students to the Taubman Health Science Library at the UofM Medical School today to explore human anatomy using the 3-D imaging of the Anatomage table. Big thanks to Dr. Pasca di Magliano (Department of Surgery and Cell and Developmental Biology) for the tour.
My FOS 2 students have been working hard on their "Recipe for a Star" research assignment. Come see the creative presentations at our Science, Arts, and Letters night.
FOS 3 students felt the force today as they explored the power of Intermolecular Forces like Dispersion Forces, Dipole-Dipole forces, and Hydrogen Bonds.
Using all of the skills they have learned so far (Stoichiometry, Rxn Rates, Thermochem, Gas Laws, Types of Rxns, Molarity), FOS 3 students had to research different reactions & design a procedure to create exactly 3g of NaCl in our final performance lab. They did a fantastic job!
FOS 3 students did a great job producing pure copper in today's lab; our first exploration of how to perfect our lab techniques in order to maximize theoretical yield.
The beauty and wonder of Science! FOS 3 students created models of the cell membrane using dialysis tubing to determine if they are semi-permeable or selectively permeable like our cells.
FOS 3 made some great looking soap bars this year. We have been studying the role functional groups play in chemical reactions. No better reaction than Saponification.
So proud of my FOS 3 students. They were given the task of making exactly 3.00g of a product molecule in the most efficient way possible, but they had to research and decide which reactants to use. They rocked this lab!
