Do we still have work to do? Absolutely. Will it ever be perfect? Definitely not. But as I sit in my house with all the creature comforts, I'm grateful for everything I have & I try my best to never take that for granted. I hope everyone has a safe & happy 4th!!
Happy 250th America! I don't usually make comments like this because I'm completely aware that my opinion doesn't amount to a hill of beans. However, it's hard not to reflect as I sit here watching 1776. As dramatized as it may be, our founding fathers had to compromise a lot.
Thomas Jefferson, a flawed human being (as we all are), had the impossible task of writing something that would make the Continental Congress happy. Our country isn't perfect because the founding fathers weren't perfect. They just did the best they could to create this country.
Mel Brooks is 100!!! In honor of our favorite spoof movie maker, Rachel and I are seeing how many of his movies we can fit into this afternoon. History of the World: Part 1 is up first.
Due my birthday festivities this weekend, Rachel and I missed that yesterday was the 42nd anniversary of the release of Indiana Jones & the Temple of Doom. So guess what we're watching?
I got the birthday call from my mom at 9:24 am, so I'm now officially 41. I survived the 1st year of my 40s! It wasn't always perfect, but I'm alive, which is cause for celebration!
On my birthday, I got tickets to see The Mandalorian & Grogu for Rachel, mom, and me before meeting dad and JC for my birthday dinner at Gabby Goat, one of our favorite spots!
Just a little over a day until my birthday! My birthday weekend plans are finally set. Having dinner tomorrow with some of my favorite gals at our favorite Mexican restaurant in town, with a potential stop at the winery.
3 days until my birthday! This will be the last night we can watch a movie due to other commitments tomorrow. Of course, that means my all time favorite movie, LA Confidential was a must!
It's my birthday week!! Told Rachel that I wanted to watch some of my favorite movies to celebrate. Last night, we watched Pirates of the Caribbean. Since we have more time today, I decided we should watch The Mummy trilogy.
Birthday is in 4 days! Watching Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Harrison Ford was my first celebrity crush. This character may also be part of the big reason why I love history.
Rachel and I are both fighting colds. I HAVE to get better because I have to sing at both services on Sunday. Making use of the whiskey Rachel bought on our trip, I'm trying my hand at making a hot toddy to see if it helps the way we've been told it does!
Oh, and stopped at Blue Springs once we were back in Illinois to get blackberry pie for dad. Even though we don't have to go to STL for Mom's doctor anymore (cancer free!!), we need to start going at least once a year to visit a few of our favorite places.
Got back from our trip to Missouri wine country, but not before stopping in STL for a food tour. The @Cheesecake Factory for dinner and cheesecake (Godiva will ALWAYS be the best), @LeesFamousChick for JC, then Straubs to get chicken salad for Mom and me, plus extra goodies!
I'm officially on vacation for the 1st time since my big 40th birthday trip last May! I've been MIA, mostly because my life is boring, but also because social media has just become so draining. So excited to go on a short, but much needed trip with Rachel for her birthday!
I reached my deadline and got all my Christmas shopping done before Thanksgiving!! Now, I can work on getting everything wrapped so I can enjoy my favorite time of the year!
Me: Do you want to watch some Dark Shadows...a movie...Expedition Unknown?
Sister: I don't care.
Me: sighs...I picked last time. "I'm just just an elected politician. I can't make decisions by myself".
Cut to us watching Nightmare Before Christmas in July 🤷🏻♀️
