Finding 6 species of woodpeckers on our pre-breakfast session was already a cracking start for the day. But watching a pair of Hazel Hen displaying near the track after breakfast was even better. Always rewarding to get prolonged views of this shy forest species.

St Agnes - day 7. Not much in the last two days in windy conditions. 17 Great Shearwaters from Horse Point this evening.

St Agnes - day 5. Back to St Mary's, and this time after a nervous 3 hour wait, good views of the Eyebrowed Thrush!

St Agnes - day 4. Spent the day on St Mary's not seeing an Eye-browed Thrush. A Red-backed Shrike dismembering a Scilly Shrew was a little compensation. Back on St Agnes 6 Whooper Swans flew over.

St Agnes - day 2. Catching up with trip ticks. Now at 59. Caspian Gull at Periglis. A few Firecrests and Black Reds. Nice sunny day with blue skies!

Another great trip to Scilly ended yesterday. 119 species seen during my 10 day stay, topped by the St Agnes Mourning Dove. Great fun, great people and great islands. Photos of a few of the birds seen #Scilly2025

St Agnes, Scilly - day 1. Sadly the Mourning Dove appears to have gone. Caught up with the Spotted Sand in St Warna's Cove, where it showed very nicely!
