My favorite advice for 1:1 meetings, whether it's with your manager, a team mate, or a direct report:
Bring at least 1 question to the meeting. If you don't have one, come up with something.
You'll learn something new every time.
So custom HTML in Markdown is an acceptance that users will have special use cases and the basic format won't cover everything. Markdown has its pros and cons, but I think this is a particularly good design decision. And it's something to think about when designing formats.
When designing a format, it's tempting to think that you've thought of all use cases and covered everything. But there are always edge cases to every abstraction layer. There are always things that users will want to do that you haven't thought of.
Communicating the "why" is even more valuable than communicating the "what".
This is especially true for code comments and pull requests. But it's true for everything.
@skillsSingh Nothing better than getting up very early and doing the hardest work first. That's what works for me, it makes the rest of the day feel great
@heyOnuoha It's true, and having an active audience means an audience that's actually interested in your content, and that will engage and give you feedback
Pretty refreshing to see the CMS-as-a-toolkit approach with @tina_cms. Makes me realize that there's lots of room for innovation in the CMS and Jamstack space
I think it's pretty cool that there are still enthusiasts out there learning how to program Commodore 64 assembly for the 6510 processor - from the 80s! And if you don't have the hardware, you can just run a C64 emulator, in your browser. That's remarkable.
If you're a learning addict then you get a thrill from picking up a new programming language, or new stack, a new framework.
Maybe it uses to be possible to learn all of it. But we're far beyond it. There is now so much out there, that it would take many lifetimes.
There's not enough time to learn everything there is to learn in programming. So you're going to have to choose. So you might as well choose deliberately: what kind of programming are you passionate about? What kind of impact do you want to make?
