We got the funding for our CRC Small Data!!! This means 31 open doctoral researcher positions for pushing the boundaries of artificial intelligence and modeling, starting on Oct 1st, 2023, thanks to the German Research Foundation. https://t.co/P8BTAdXhUA
Many exciting things – and intense coding – at the scverse hackathon this week hosted by @OliverStegle and @saezlab in Heidelberg!
Our focus was on interoperability across languages and knowledgebases. Read on to see what we made! 1/n

This may revolutionize data science: we introduce TabPFN, a new tabular data classification method that takes 1 second & yields SOTA performance (better than hyperparameter-optimized gradient boosting in 1h). Current limits: up to 1k data points, 100 features, 10 classes. 🧵1/6
@adamgayoso It's slower than the Jax version, actually. I've written it mainly to be able to use the scvi model in Julia, it's not really optimized for speed yet -- I'm still working on that :)
Another exciting talk is coming up: @zauggj will explain to us and interested guests her research on "Cell-type specific regulatory networks to investigate disease mechanisms" on July 07.
This will be our first hybrid talk (only a bit nervous...)
We are happy to announce the next Young Statisticians #LectureSeries. On July 6 Marléne Baumeister
will present her research.

Always happy to fund conference visits for our PhD researchers. Super happy when they return with a prize - congratulations to Ipek Akol for her poster prize at the ISDN conference for her work on the analyses of FOXG1 functions on epigenetic processes in the hippocampus.
We are looking forward to the talk of @jurodemann about "Prior-mean-RObust Bayesian Optimization (PROBO)" next Wednesday May 4 and we hope you are too.
