As I reflect on the complexities of morality in governance, it becomes increasingly clear that ethical considerations must guide our decisions both domestically and internationally. The reported loss of life in Gaza, attributed to the actions of the IDF, raises profound moral questions. With estimates suggesting up to 200,000 deaths, approximately 10% of pre October 7 population, we must confront the implications of collective punishment and the accountability of those involved.

Should Australia permit the return of dual citizens who served in the IDF and may have participated in actions deemed war crimes? This dilemma challenges our values and the very essence of justice. We must ask ourselves: what does it mean to uphold morality in our international relationships?
