@sullydaysleeper I do sometimes wonder if we'll ever see a big charity shut down because they've achieved all their outcomes, though! Honestly probably not because there's always more to do/bigger charities have the resources to pivot but it's an interesting thought!

@sullydaysleeper Not in my experience although I'm sure there are exceptions! But making money will never be the goal, it always comes back to the charitable mission, so success is always measured in terms of fulfilling charitable outcomes.

@sullydaysleeper Also, if you want your charity to be as effective as possible, you need the best staff with often very niche expertise, so you have to offer competitive salaries. You need large IT systems to keep everything going, etc etc - it all costs money but it doesn't negate the good work.

@sullydaysleeper Not really, but when they become big (i.e. dealing with large amounts of money) they need to run off business models to ensure efficiency and professionalism. Far greater risk of corruption otherwise.

I listened to a US podcast episode about Sinéad O'Connor recently and was disappointed by it because it lacked any understanding of the context of her as an Irish woman. I feel like Sinéad was the very essence of what it is/was to be an Irish woman, good and bad. Truly a great.
