It was a great honor to participate with such Transatlantic/global experts, @mmagierowski and @IgorJanke.

There’s seismic changes afoot in global security, and increasing danger from the China/Russia axis and their allies. There’s new opportunities and inspiration to energize European defense coming from nations along NATO’s “Northeast Corridor.” Here is where several likeminded Allies set the pace and increase synergy concerning security/defense. Clearly recognizing the threat, Poland “departed the gate early,” leading the charge undertaking rapid defense modernization.

Meanwhile, America nears completion of a review of global military posture, with the potential for major impacts to Europe. Covering these issues at the 2025 @Economic_Forum_ is timely as Poland’s new President #KarolNawrocki arrives to Washington today, to discuss 🇺🇸🇵🇱Alliance. President Nawrocki has the opportunity to explain how the American-led road to #PeaceThroughStrength travels through Warsaw, and how global deterrence/security are enhanced by permanently stationing the “right mix” of American forces in Poland.

Outnumbered and outgunned, the Poles are expected to hold on for just hours, but fiercely defend Westerplatte for 7 days.

Led by Major #HenrykSucharski, estimates are that the Polish Defenders of Westerplatte inflict 6-8 times more casualties on the German-enemy, than he on them.

The Poles tenaciously hold their ground, delaying the advance of the German Wehrmacht. Their defiance is a testament to the determination of Poles to be free. The heroism of Poland’s Defenders of Westerplatte inspire a nation.

Fighting for, and standing for Freedom is in Poland’s DNA. It’s no surprise then, to see Poland’s strong stance for Freedom today. Recognizing the danger posed by revisionist-Russia, Poland continues setting the example for Europe, in strengthening defenses and supporting Ukraine’s fight for Freedom.

The United States has a generational opportunity to deepen defense cooperation with Poland. It means capitalizing on Poland’s unwavering commitment to Freedom, to America, and to NATO.

Poland is acquiring ~$60,000,000,000 in 🇺🇸military equipment, increasing divisions to 6 (that’s four more than the UK) and troops to 300,000. Poland is essentially building a military which looks like a smaller twin of the United States armed forces.

That’s why the United States needs to establish permanent presence of 🇺🇸forces in Poland. A massive amount of American troops alla in West Germany during the ColdWar is not the requirement. What’s needed is the right mix of 🇺🇸forces to both deter Russia, and to rapidly transform Polish military capabilities.

American forces in Poland will:

1) Assist Poland in becoming a military powerhouse and NATO bastion against revisionist-Russia;

(2) Work with the #PolishArmedForces #PAF, utilizing lessons from Russia/Ukraine to develop doctrine and to test it together on Poland’s expanding training grounds. Together, 🇺🇸 and 🇵🇱 can prepare for “future-war” (wherever it may occur);

(3) Deter Russia, China and their allies. That’s because a Strong Poland, means Strong Europe. And this greatly assists America in leading the Western Alliance to a return to global deterrence.

General #TadeuszKosciuszko’s brilliant defensive plan is the key to delivering America’s stunning victory over the British at the #BattleOfSaratoga. Saratoga is not just a battle. It’s a strategic turning point for the American rebel cause. Victory at Saratoga locks in French support for young America. That support ultimately becomes decisive in Britain’s defeat, and the establishment of the United States of America.

General Kosciuszko’s legacy is multifaceted, and requires books to document. Countless military units and organizations adopt the name of this revered Pole. The latest manifestation of Kosciuszko is America dubbing our Army camp in Poznan, Poland, as #CampKosciuszko.

It’s very fitting that Camp Kosciuszko is home to the 🇺🇸Army’s first permanently assigned unit on NATO’s #EasternFront - that is, it’s home to the Forward Headquarters of the 🇺🇸Army’s Vth “Victory” Corps. Hopefully soon, the entire Army Vth Corps HQ is assigned to Camp Kosciuszko. It’s the only 🇺🇸Army Corps singly focused on European defense, and therefore, should be fully assigned to Europe - in Poland - to maximize 🇺🇸/NATO operational relationships and readiness.

Kosciuszko remains inspirational (as does his compatriot Gen #KazimierzPulaski, another Polish/American hero). A point to recall today is just how adept Kosciuszko is at preparing multilayered defensive systems anywhere General #GeorgeWashington assigns him. His method of employing #ForwardDefenses and #DefensesInDepth, at Saratoga are a typical example of his engineering brilliance.

🇺🇸/NATO must incorporate lessons from Kosciuszko to realize lost deterrence and readiness against Russia. Employ Kosciuszko’s defensive concepts from ForwardDefense on NATO’s EasternFront, to defending rear lines in Western Europe, the Atlantic, to 🇺🇸 and 🇨🇦 (of course this must include defending all the vulnerabilities Russia targets - cyber, informational, economic, energy, and so on).

NATO must take a page from Kosciuszko’s “playbook,” and rapidly (1) help Ukraine defeat Russia; (2) while retooling NATO defenses, including Forward, In-depth, and revitalizing defense budgets and defense industries to support 21st century warfare.

23 September, Poles commemorate the life of Father #JózefStanek who ministers to Poles under brutal German occupation. That act alone puts a target on his back by the Germans who see the Polish clergy as a threat to their plan of erasing the Polish people, Poland and Polish-ness. The only good Poles for the Germans are dead, or otherwise uneducated and enslaved. In the case of Polish children, if determined “genetically worthy,” they are kidnapped for Germanization (such is the fate of ~200,000 Polish children).

During the #WarsawUprising, Father Stanek is a Chaplain to Poland’s Underground #HomeArmy #AK; he aids the wounded. When he has a chance to flee to safety across the #VistulaRiver on a pontoon boat, he gives his place to a wounded Pole. He remains on the west side of the river in the Czerniakowski area, where fighting rages. It’s where he believes he can do the most to minister and aid wounded Poles.

During the last days of the Uprising, as the Poles are nearing defeat, Father Stanek volunteers to try to negotiate with the Germans so that hundreds of Poland’s wounded might be spared. Instead of a negotiation, the Germans beat and torture Father Stanek. On September 23, 1944, the Germans execute Father Stanek with abject disdain and scorn, publicly hanging him from his own clerical collar, as an example to Poles of what their enemy is capable.

From the beginning of WWII, Polish priests are targeted. Thousands die at the hands of the Germans. It should not be forgotten that of the ~22,000 Polish officers and intelligentsia slaughtered by the Russians in the #KatynMassacre, that 144 are Polish priests.

Father Stanek personifies John 15:13, “Greater love hath no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.”
Recognizing his sacrifice and example, in 1999 he is beautified by 🇵🇱Pope #JohnPaulI.
