Today marks the conclusion of Cyprus' Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Throughout our Presidency, we served with a clear sense of purpose, dedication and responsibility, working to advance a more autonomous Union, open to the world.

I extend my sincere appreciation to Deputy Minister @marilena_raouna for our close and constructive cooperation under the leadership of @PresidentCYP @Christodulides.

My heartfelt thanks also go to all those who contributed to the success of our Presidency at @CyprusMFA and across the public service.

Our country is entering a new phase in the development of its natural gas resources within the Exclusive Economic Zone of the Republic of Cyprus.

Today’s signing of the *Declaration of Commerciality* for the Glaucus and Pegasus discoveries marks a milestone of strategic importance for the Republic of Cyprus and a decisive step forward in the implementation of our national energy strategy. It also represents a major step towards establishing the Eastern Mediterranean as a credible alternative energy corridor for Europe.

It further confirms the significant potential of Cyprus’ Exclusive Economic Zone, marks the transition to the next stage of development of the discoveries in Block 10, and highlights the opportunities that lie ahead for our economy, energy security, investment, and the further strengthening of our country's geostrategic role.

At the same time, the advanced discussions with the ExxonMobil–QatarEnergy *consortium* regarding Blocks 4 and 10A are progressing towards their successful completion, building on the significant progress already achieved and opening up new opportunities for the Republic of Cyprus..

Through trusted partnerships with leading international energy companies such as ExxonMobil and QatarEnergy, our country continues to strengthen its position as a reliable energy partner, a pillar of stability and cooperation, and a bridge between the Eastern Mediterranean and Europe, contributing to regional energy security, the diversification of energy supply, and the European Union’s broader strategic objectives.

Παρουσιάζουμε σήμερα εδώ, στο νοτιοανατολικότερο άκρο της ΕΕ, στο νησί μας, δύο εξαιρετικά σημαντικές στρατηγικές πρωτοβουλίες της Ευρωπαϊκής Επιτροπής: τη Στρατηγική για τα Νησιά και τη Στρατηγική για ανθεκτικές, ευημερούσες και βιώσιμες Παράκτιες Περιοχές, για τις οποίες γίνεται ειδική αναφορά και στα πρόσφατα Συμπεράσματα του Ευρωπαϊκού Συμβουλίου.

Για πρώτη φορά, μέσα από τις στρατηγικές αυτές, παρέχεται ένα ολοκληρωμένο και συνεκτικό πλαίσιο αντιμετώπισης των ιδιαίτερων προκλήσεων, αλλά και αξιοποίησης των ευκαιριών και προοπτικών των νησιωτικών και παράκτιων περιοχών της Ένωσης.

When Cyprus assumed the Presidency, our ambition was clear: to be a results-driven Presidency, building consensus, translating strategic objectives into concrete outcomes for European citizens.

All under the objective of giving substance to European Strategic Autonomy, to European Independence, coupled with Openness to the World.

6 months later, I can proudly say that we have acted as an honest broker, approaching this institutional responsibility with strong determination and a strong sense of European duty, to deliver across the European agenda.

The progress achieved during this semester demonstrates that when we act together, with purpose, solidarity and determination, Europe delivers.

Cyprus is proudly European, and for us, a small Member State, the Presidency was a national mission, a top priority to deliver for our European family.
