I have been sorely disappointed with how @PattyHajdu has defended quarantine hotels. She has victim blamed a woman who was sexually assaulted, she has no data to prove the hotels are actually better, & she mislead a committee.

Hotel quarantine doesn’t work. But Trudeau did it anyway because it’s popular with Canadians. Why? To distract from his failure with the vaccine roll out. The US has already administered 50 -70 million doses. Canada is below 2 million. #noquarantinehotels

Clarification of my stance: I'm not against #test4travel. I'm not against quarantine.

I simply ask to allow people to do so safely at home with their loved ones.

#QuarantineHotels are not safer, they are financially harmful, and they're not humane treatment of citizens.

We have filed a legal Charter Challenge to @GovCanada regarding quarantine hotels disproportionately affecting vulnerable Canadian families. They did not hear our pleas for exemptions to the hotel for family reunification, and on Friday, must respond to these charter violations.

Numerous senior officials from the Public Health Agency of Canada were at committee today. I asked what data they used to determine that forcing people into quarantine hotels would result in better public health than allowing people to quarantine at home. Their response: 🤷🏼‍♀️

Considering NHL got exemptions to enter Canada months before partners (even though I was literally going through cancer treatment without my then-fiancé) it is sadly not surprising that this is their priority. Just so, so disappointing.
