you have been a towering inspiration, the very best of us, a tireless advocate for justice and progress, for a better Australia - thank you Pat Dodson - hoping you find some well-deserved peace and rest after a lifetime of service - it’s been our honour to have your Voice showing the way
This morning I announced my resignation as Senator for Western Australia, effective from 26 January 2024.
Regrettably, my recent treatment for cancer means that my health, although slowly improving, has left me physically unable to continue as a Senator.
It has been an honour.
Tens of thousands of Australians have marched today in support of recognition through a Voice.
Let this spirit of solidarity carry our nation to a successful referendum next month.
Let hope and reconciliation prevail.

To the Australian people, young and old.
I have lived through many of these extraordinary moments in this country.
The Voice is now our moment.
Vote Yes.

My column on the latest Emissions figures that tbh barely got any coverage. They should be regarded as important as next week’s GDP data
Australia’s greenhouse emissions are a national disgrace that are destroying the planet & costing households https://t.co/ZqroLfoboT
i'm told there are many australians who haven't seen how simple the proposed constitutional amendment is…
i certainly hadn't seen it categorised into four parts.
it's really simple.
recognition + listening → better outcomes
let's get it done, together. #yes23
@PMBarraclough such great guidelines for an often roiling ragebait world, Trish - i was also lucky enough to work with you - and here today, you’re still providing inspiration Thankyou ❤️
Peter Dutton has refused to support the Matildas until they can provide more detail on how the rest of the World Cup will unfold https://t.co/qJZj2RDrlk
I've been friends & work alongside @thomasmayo23 for around seven years. He is gentle, considered, ethical & generous. His quiet voice is powerful. He is being attacked because the No campaign wants to silence him. It won't happen. https://t.co/XBivzIebiM
Today’s “No case” advertisement cartoon in the @financialreview is like something from the 1890s.
Racist. Sexist. Wrong.
Australia deserves an adult conversation about the referendum, but the “No case” seems to have no substantive arguments -
just misinformation.
As @AlboMP said, Parliament passes laws but people make history.
The Referendum for a Voice is now with the Australian people.
I have great faith that we will come together to vote Yes for better a future.

Utterly broken reading waking up in the UK to read of the depraved and unjust attacks on Stan, my friend, my mentor, and colleague. It’s the same playbook every time in our nation that refuses to reckon with racism, dispossession and an inadequate media. https://t.co/AGIG8VT3cH
This is terrifying: a marketer pinged me for quote permission — common for a journalist. Only I didn’t recognize the text as something I’d ever said. Pumping it into Google returned nothing.
I asked where he got it: ChatGPT. AI fabricated a quote and attributed it to me.
