Sometimes what scholars need is not a professor/advisor/mentor but a person who is just willing to share and that can empathize. Who feels it, knows it, and should share it! Be humble, and be vulnerable and you will be amazed by the +ive impact this has on the life of scholars.
I think one of the most impactful things we can do as academicians are to share our experiences and humanize ourselves to scholars. Many of us have gone through or are currently going through many things that our scholars are experiencing.

Yes, yes and yes! So lucky I saw a tweet from @BiottofnI long ago promoting the summer school. And even luckier that we all got to attend. Thankful for @SSCLabQuips's support in furthering our training, as always!
Last week I attended a phenomenal infectious diseases tailored bioinformatics course organized by @BiottofnI and @KathrynCrouch81 at the @UofGlasgow. I highly recommend!
We learned so much about various bioinformatic pipelines, thoroughly understanding our code and generating different data visualizations. Plus the TAs were amazing!
Our first Glasgow Bioinformatics #summerschool in person after covid came to an end yesterday...sad as we had a great time!
Watch the space for next year's https://t.co/fqaWy1VWaI - probably the last week of August in sunny @UofGlasgow
Thanks for all the admin support @UofGSii
We are running our Glasgow Bioinformatics Summer School again! Nice to be in person - 40 very motivated participants!
A lot of nice discussions, good student presentations and some food...
PS: lost 5 participants (3K) due to visa issues - thank you @Conservatives
