“We are outraged that some donors have united to suspend funding for UNRWA, the main aid provider for millions of Palestinians in Gaza and the region. This comes amid a rapidly worsening humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.” https://t.co/3V3sMpbZMy
We cannot have this debate without also properly engaging with the issues of (child) criminal exploitation #CCE and blurry line btw victim & perpetrator. We need a joined up, multi-agency approach to prevention, identification and intervention - regardless of immigration status

This is what happens when rules are made to suit self vs victims/not thought thro. They must be balanced & proportionate given consequential harm involved

“It’s difficult to see how British lawyers simply by their presence can somehow magically make the stark findings of the Supreme Court go away…especially when the court accepted the evidence of the UNHCR”

Today, on the 2 year anniversary we remember the 31 people who were lost in the Channel on 24 November 2021. Their families and friends remain in our thoughts as we continue to support them in their fight for justice.
Two years ago 31 lives were lost in the Channel. Today, as always, my thoughts are with the families of the victims, many of whom I represent in their ongoing fight for justice. May the victims rest in peace.
Every single person crossing the Channel to seek safety is an individual with hopes and dreams, just like every one of us.
On this day two years ago, 31 of those dreams were tragically cut short in the deadliest Channel disaster in 30 years.
Something profoundly beautiful about what happened today. An independent judiciary, upholding the rule of law against a government misusing executive power. And doing so not to safeguard the powerful, but to protect the most marginalised people on earth https://t.co/EIoondbf6R
"Today is not just a victory for them, but a victory for the rule of law."

Marine Accident Investigation Branch report tells a story of a chaotic, understaffed & under-resourced coastguard control room, contributing to devastating loss of life. Our clients maintain the need for a statutory inquiry, with the power to compel witnesses & disclose evidence.
The families of those who drowned in the English Channel in November 2021 have written a heartbreaking letter to Rishi Sunak to demand justice following this week's report on the tragedy.
With the UK Government announcing an enquiry there is hope that someone will finally be held accountable. Please support their campaign here: https://t.co/3lNdQlnb75
A non statutory inquiry has been announced- this isn’t good enough. Loss of life on this scale calls for the highest level of scrutiny, and the investigation must have sufficient legal powers to give it teeth. Anything less than a statutory inquiry is an insult to the victims
At least 27 people drowned attempting to cross the English Channel in a small boat on 24 Nov 2021. After 2 years, The MAIB has concluded its investigation and published its findings into the tragedy.
Duncan Lewis calls for a statutory inquiry without delay.
