❗Web3 Is Not Yet Decentralized Yet. And the Legal Burden Falls on You.

Between October 20-22, Amazon Web Services (AWS), the world’s biggest cloud-hosting provider, went down. The result: @coinbase and other exchanges froze, @base and @infura_io stopped functioning, and any wallet, payment gateway, API, or dApp depending on their infrastructure went dark.

For the industry built on the promise of decentralization, this was a humbling moment. It’s hard to keep claiming full decentralization when so much of the stack still relies on centralized Web2 infrastructure. Yes, we must work to migrate those components into truly decentralized architectures - but the immediate takeaway is clear: Web3 is not yet decentralized.

This isn’t only a technical limitation - it’s a legal reality. You might not be able to fix decentralization on your own, but you must understand its consequences: if your system isn’t decentralized, you are the one in control. And if you’re in control, you carry the legal responsibility.
