Long time no see! ๐
Had my first day in the office today in a digital project role.
Very excited for the future!
Any tips for the new hybrid office life - would love to hear them ๐
@elliezub Ohh huge congratulations Ellie!
Thatโs incredible! I know youโre going to smash it in your new role. Ahh Iโm so happy for you! ๐๐๐
@haileyjocodes I think itโs so important to have this conversation in our community.
Thereโs not enough chat about genuine zigzag journeys into SWE. Like youโve said, coding as a hobby is a great way to continue learning. If anything, it could help to broaden horizons and chances once ready.
@elliezub Thatโs so awful to hear Ellie! Iโm so sorry for your loss, take all the time you need. Code will be there for you when you feel up for it.
@Shankarsh15S @zlatov_cristina This is exactly what I realised I was missing.
I didnโt feel mentally fulfilled at work, even though there were tough things to work out. It gave a glimpse that the problem solving is what I love and feel fulfilled by.
Plus, there is so much creativity and design in tech!
@elliezub@ConnorLibutti Why can I relate to this so much? ๐ญ๐
I once craved coffee, happened to be at the airport, and that coffee was bad. Almost like there was 50% water, 5% watered down coffee and the rest a resemblance of milk with syrup ๐ฅฒ
@zlatov_cristina Writing code that works is more important.
Yes you need to aim to write it fast, but if you write fast and introduced bugs, you will spend double the time (if not more) to fix the mistake.
Iโm reflecting on my learning on SEO and Google Analytics.
Iโm shocked at how crucial it is for web developers! Without proper optimization, how will people even find your website, let alone spend time on it?
How are you optimising your website? Share your tips ๐
@zlatov_cristina It's definitely good to develop something that can be used in real life - there's more of a purpose and story behind that.
I think that it should be fun or engaging to the developer as well. Without that, it is easy to give up on the project.
@TreciaKS I'm on the fence about it! I love the effects of styling and how aesthetic and great it looks, but the CSS to get there is ... questionable๐ I definitely need to look at Tailwind!
@andreiacribeir Hi Andreia! Iโve got also got a psychology degree, and have a passion for technology and software development. Lovely to meet you thanks to the X algorithm ๐คฉ
Soo, it's been a while since I've logged into X...
I have been very busy studying two courses. I am now certified in SEO and Google Analytics! ๐
Excited to see what the future will bring!
Also... Loving my new home office area and making the most out of it ๐
@programmingjack This is really helpful!
I created a portfolio website a few months back, but too anxious to deploy it. I think I will need to push myself and finally deploy it ๐ฅฒ
@elliezub Have you looked at using a sleep app? I tried Rise and itโs really good! Shows you things like your sleep dept and your best times of day for work/productivity. Itโs a tad pricey, but can be worth if helps โบ๏ธ
@NickNaskida @OpenDevLog I so hope this would be me once I've dived into it. I've used Bootstrap and liked it, just a tad apprehensive about Tailwind...
