I have always viewed Stakeholder Engagement as a positive term. This latest article by Mark S. Reed et al. sheds light on how the current use of the term can perpetuate colonial narratives. The paper emphasises the importance of values we carry during stakeholder engagement as
also signifies the power dynamics involved [...] Whether intended by Freeman (1984) or not, the concept of a stake is something that is owned and that may be held, possessed, and hoarded to centralise resources (including knowledge) and maintain or exacerbate existing,
as a concept because your focus is shifted. And even though something will always disturb the work-life continuum, you will always succeed because people around you support you and your goals no matter what.
