Remembering the victims is difficult every day but today carries a unique heaviness in our hearts. More than 230 lives cut short, and two years on, their families are still being denied justice. Never forget 💔🇱🇧 #جريمة_٤_آب

On Friday -- 30 days after the massive explosion in Beirut -- thermal imaging showed body heat in the rubble, and rescuers detected eight breaths per minute amid the debris, an NGO helping with rescue efforts told CNN https://t.co/f0aL4ZJf9z
I can't stop thinking of all the years we spent drinking, eating, laughing & loving a few hundred meters away from 2700 tons of ammonium nitrate. What if this had happened on a balmy Saturday night pre-covid, when those streets were packed with the country's future, its youth.
Mind-boggling: Bassil told BBC News: "the question is not why it was there, but how it was ignited". Having 2,750 freaking tons of ammonium nitrate in a civilian port for seven years is completely normal.
What a catastrophe. Not a single person I know in Beirut and around wasn't affected somehow. Broken glass, destroyed rooms, narrow escapes and many many losses. This is so hard to process.
If you don't feel okay, please contact @embrace_lebanon's hotline '1564'. If you feel like you can weather today's storm, reach out to someone. Let them know they are not alone. All we can do is try.
This is great. We need to talk to our kids, a lot, about porn. @peggyorenstein says it's not "the talk" anymore but mentioning dating/sex/porn often, in passing, like watching a movie & asking, "Is this how that would happen in real life?"
