And the Universal Credit bill has passed. Some of the sickest people in the country will suffer needlessly more now. There is no justification, no excuse. Just ugly, cruel choices by ministers too cowardly to tax the wealthy rather than cut the poor. A shameful day for Labour.
🚨 We’re shocked and disappointed.
The UK government has pushed through HUGE cuts to Universal Credit for disabled people applying in the future.
These cuts will be devastating. They risk pushing even more disabled people to food banks.
🚨BREAKING NEWS🚨
The Government's Universal Credit Bill has passed, rushing it through in one day, without a committee stage where Disabled people's voices could have been heard.
It's clear: the government views Disabled lives as nothing more than a cost-cutting exercise
Tonight a Labour government voted to slash £2 billion from some of the poorest people in our society.
They sip drinks at Mastercard HQ while disabled people are pushed to food banks.
I know I speak for millions when I say: we won't take this anymore.
For it seems the 12th time, I am walking between places speed reading as the government dropped an impact assessment LESS THAN 24 HOURS before a vote. This is scandalous for anything let alone changing something as huge with consequences for hundreds of thousands as welfare.
I stand with disabled people across the UK and organisations representing our interests @TakingThePIP1, @Dis_PPL_Protest, @DRDisabilityReb, @DisRightsUK and @johnpringdns, in opposing cuts to UC being made through the Disability Benefits Cuts Bill today.

I’m voting against the Universal Credit and PIP Bill tonight because, despite concessions, it will still push 50,000 disabled people into poverty.
Welfare reform by a Labour government should improve people's lives, not abandon or punish those who need support most.
My amendment to the welfare Bill has not passed.
It would have gone some way to making basic Universal Credit rates meet the cost of life’s basic essentials.
A more humane benefit system is sorely needed by the growing number of families struggling horribly day after day.
A reminder: it’s still not OK for Labour to push 150,000 people into poverty.
Even with both sets of concessions, that’s exactly what will happen if the Pathways to Work Bill passes.

GB News sees no issue with a guest suggesting that disabled people be starved off benefits. Let that sink in.
Sick & disabled Britons should report this hate to the UN Special Rapporteur on Disability & the UK’s UN Ambassador.
Hi everyone.
I am okay, have just been released on bail along with being banned from the city of Westminster for holding a placard.
Welcome to the UK...
Full statement to be issued soon.
Corbyn has got them rattled again.
You can always tell by the amount of criticism by other politicians and media hacks that he's more popular than they'd like to admit. #ForTheManyNotTheFew ✊
You need to stop worrying about that Disabled Person who you believe is ripping you off.
And start worrying about your Water bill, Energy Bill, Rent, Mortgage...
That actually ARE ripping you off, and attacking Disabled People isn't going to do a damn thing about it.
Sorry, could we take a moment to register the cruelty of the Shadow Secretary of State for Work & Pensions, Helen Whateley, who has proposed an amendment to the UC & PIP Green Paper excluding from PIP assessment those with “mild depression, anxiety or #ADHD”? Won’t happen, but…!
There are 4.5 million children living in poverty in the UK.
Meanwhile, there are more British billionaires than ever before.
I think we should tax the rich to lift children out of poverty. Why is that such a radical idea?
Ever wondered what PIP is or why some disabled people get it?
It’s not “free money.” It’s not “extra help.”
It’s a lifeline in an inaccessible world.
Disabled people face on average £1,095 in avoidable extra costs per month.

MPs are still having to table amendments to the toxic DWP Welfare Bill
The idea that the DWP will reassess someone with Parkinson’s or MS & then potentially cut their UC is both medically incoherent & morally reprehensible @GraemeDownieMP #TakingThePIP
