I was born and raised in Tigray. I know it well. I have just left the Tigray Region having seen what is taking place, and I feel that I must speak out.
My heart is broken.
Civilians in Tigray are being killed.
Girls and women are being raped.
Freweini created #employment for 42 local women when she opened @MariamSebaPads#Sanitary Products Factory. She made sure the factory had an on-site creche so #working#mums can be sure their #children are safe and cared for. Read more at the link in profile. Photo by Joni Kabana

Feminine products in Ethiopia are inaccessible, and unaffordable for most. If imported, they're often at much lower quality standards than the West - putting women's health at risk + perpetuating socioeconomic disparity. (n/1)
@CherishEthiopia @meazaG_ Thank you so much for your thoughts. We're currently producing cloth masks in line with the current recommendations from the World Health Organization and the CDC.
Wishing everyone a blessed Easter holiday. May this holiday provide you and your loved ones solace and blessings during these challenging times 🐰🥚💐

The @MariamSebaPads has cut work hours by 50% with pay. They’ve also closed their company daycare center and excused workers with children so that they can practice social distancing and stay at home.

We are saddened by the passing of Dr. Catherine Hamlin.
She led an extraordinary life and demonstrated unwavering commitment towards Ethiopia's women. For this we are incredibly grateful.
Dr Catherine Hamlin passed away peacefully at her home in Addis Ababa on March 18th. She was 96. In this time of sorrow, we reflect upon her life which was a gift to some of the world’s most vulnerable women.
