@jroselkim Currently reading A Thread of Grace by Mary Doria Russell and haven’t wanted to put it down since I’ve started. Other great ones I’ve read this year (that I found hard to put down) are The Great Believers by Rebecca Makkai and The Sentence by Louise Erdrich. Safe travels!

@AmandaDimilta If you’re looking for a big book to hunker down with I highly suggest The Eighth Life by Nino Haratischwili. I read it earlier this year and it hasn’t left me. I also really enjoyed Three Daughters of Eve by Elif Shafak and Lincoln in the Bardo by George Saunders.

Currently reading All’s Well by Mona Awad for my #FridayReads. A wonderfully written book about a college theatre professor dealing with chronic pain. Awad’s writing is intelligent; at once sardonic and empathetic. I’m only 75 pages in but so far loving this book.

I finished reading In the Spider’s Room by Muhammad Abdelnabi today. Grounding his protagonist’s story in true events, Abdelnabi brings to life what it’s like to be a gay man in Egypt. This book will stay with me for a very long time. This is for several reasons. #BookTwitter

In sum, I read because of authors like Abdelnabi; stories like this would never be brought to life without publishers like Hoopoe Fiction; and, libraries, well libraries are where we go to be exposed to literature that others hope to keep hidden away.
