@ms_tourist In Soweto, Meadowlands Zone 8 and Zone 9, we always had our own spaza shops when we were growing up. At that time, we had no malls in and around Meadowlands,Soweto. That's my experience of being a bona fide ya Meadowlands, Soweto, Johannesburg, South Africa. How did we get here?

"So as a prelude whites must be made to realise that they are only human, not superior. Same with Blacks. They must be made to realise that they are also human, not inferior." - Steve Biko, Picture: ProleWiki
"A patriot is a person who loves his country and its organisations, and who assiduously labours to promote its welfare. Patriotism exerts an ennobling influence on the minds of the people throughout the different developmental stages of their civilization, and creates among them a spirit of co-operation and mutual love which have the influence of accelerating their national progress." - John Thekiso, Ilanga lase Natal , Patriotism, October 29, 1926. "We have always upheld Native custom where it is ethical and in-line with the development of the race, but where it operates as an obstacle to the people's progress we hold that it must go...The liberation of Native women would cause no violent upheaval in Native life." - Abner R. "I myself attended the first NCWA [National Council of African Women] conference [which took place in Bloemfontein on December 17, 1937]. The greatest moment for me was when, at that conference, I met the legendary Mrs Charlotte Manye Maxeke. When I first encountered her, her bearing, her upright head and clear eyes, proclaimed her as a woman of character and principles. She appeared firm and composed; a woman of values and standards. She gave me the impression of being conscientious and very business-like in her dealings but, above all, a woman very clear about the purpose and direction of her church and her community involvement. I did not find her easy to approach---unlike Minah Soga. i longed to get hear her and talk to her; but except for hearing her address the conference, I never had an opportunity to speak to her. Now that I look back, perhaps the disparity in our ages was a barrier to my reaching her." - Ellen Kuzwayo, 'Call me Woman', 1985. Picture: Goodman Gallery
@proudlyxeno@Newzroom405 A few months ago, Tshwane Metro Police impounded e-hailing motor vehicles because they didn't have operating licences. This was due to a backlog at the Gauteng Provincial Regulatory Entity, which issues operating licenses. Authorities must step up.
@Newzroom405 The National Land Transportation Transitional Act (NLTTA)regulates the public transport sector. The act has been in operation since 2010. The act was amended since then, and it's now the National Land Transport Act. The act aims to ensure that operators comply.
@HistorySAZAR I've read his autobiography titled Autobiography of an Unknown South African. In that book, he explains the Mokgatle lineage and history and the Kekana and Makapan(Mokopane) history. He even recounts his interactions with Mandela in Johannesburg.
Is there any reason why we never considered ‘National Service’ in the Defence Force for young South Africans? I can imagine a hundreds of thousands would have learnt a lot about patriotism and have been trained in emergency services skills for instance.
