Today I experienced a sudden very urgent medical emergency....I asked a staff member to use the toilet, explained it was an urgent medical emergency + showed my crohns&colitis medical card..

I understand businesses have policies but come on!
Stores need better guidance on handling genuine medical emergencies with compassion and dignity
No one should have to plead for access to a toilet during a medical emergency

@SportsDirectUK "please, you can come with me & stand outside, I really need to go". He again refused + directed me across the street in another store.
Thankfully I made it in time, but many people with invisible disabilities & medical conditions may not be so fortunate....

@SportsDirectUK speak to a manager, what felt like forever (probably 2 mins) she said I had to go across the store & speak to the manager.
He then said they couldn't allow me to use their staff toilet because of "insurance". I responded with

@SportsDirectUK She said no, I reiterated it was an emergency & I have a bowel condition (this in itself was humiliating in front of 4 members of the public in a queue beside me)
She then said she'd have to speak to a manager, what felt like forever (probably 2 mins) she said I had to...
