When I started PhD in 2016, the SRF was only ₹28,000 and I was drawing about ₹40,000 in-hand in private-sector. Fellowships will always be less than the private-sector or full-time employments.

Agree with @svembu that software companies need to evolve with #GPT4 & other #AI advances. Luckily I foresaw beyond being a software engineer, joined a full time PhD in applied ML after just a year at @Zoho. Glad to be active in research & development of AI models.

2/ There is no law of nature that says software companies must make money or even exist AS pure software companies. We cannot be complacent.

We have to evolve rapidly or else face irrelevance. This will be the strong focus at Zoho.
