#UPDATE: Updates from the first half of day 1 in the #Delphi double murders trial.

- Judge Gull has ruled the two composite sketches released in 2017 and 2019 can not be used in the trial.
- Prosecutor Nick McLeland gave the state’s opening statement. It lasted 13 minutes.
- McLeland again said the case would be about three things: “bridge guy, an unspent bullet, and the brutal murders of Abby and Libby.”
- McLeland described the February day and said jurors would see the crime scene. “It was a gruesome scene,” he said.
- McLeland said the jury would hear from three witnesses who were on the trail that day and say they saw “bridge guy.”
- Baldwin gave the opening statements for the defense. It lasted a bit over an hour.
- Baldwin focused on the police investigation, saying it was “messed up from the beginning.”
- He said hair found entwined in Abby's fingers had a root with DNA. The DNA seemed to possibly match a female relative of Libby, and not Allen.
- Baldwin asserted that the bodies of Abby and Libby had been moved after they died and then placed where they were eventually found.
