🚨BREAKING: The European Parliament guts and delays #forest protection law!

The delay was supported by conservative and right-wing groups of the EU Parliament and will have catastrophic consequences. It puts at risk 2,500 km2 of forests, equivalent to the size of the city of Moscow.

A series of amendments proposed by the EPP were also adopted, enabling further degradation of EU forests.

🙌🏻Win for nature! 🙌🏿

Thanks to a complaint issued by our Partner @NABU_Biodiv, the European Commission took Germany to court for failing to protect critical grassland habitats.

Today, the EU Court of Justice ruled that EU countries must have binding measures to tackle key drivers of habitat loss — in this case, over-nutrition and early mowing in protected Natura 2000 grasslands.

This ruling is a big win for biodiversity and reinforces the power of the Habitats Directive to protect our natural heritage. 🌱

🚨 Tomorrow’s EU Parliament vote on the #Deforestation Regulation could set back forest protections by years!

🌲The Commission's proposal to delay the #EUDR threatens a landmark law aimed at stopping deforestation linked to EU supply chains. Worse, last-minute amendments proposed by the EPP could create massive loopholes, exempting entire countries from due diligence and opening the door to business-as-usual forest destruction.
