Saw this sign at the harbour and learned about the initiative to recreate habitat on the seawall. This project caught my eye because it expanded on material we have covered in lecture concerning how marine species are suffering due to habitat loss #MarEnvS20

@ChloeDu34867542 So true! The plastic waste from big companies like Amazon is a huge problem. Overconsumption drives this issue, big companies need to make changes.
It’s terrible seeing marine life suffer because of human plastic waste. Animals get entangled and die way too often because of this. Super important for researchers to be doing this!
In a new effort led by @TMMC and @NOAAFisheries, researchers are asking hard questions about marine mammal entanglements and our efforts to reduce them. Their goal is to guide conservation and reduce long-term risk. https://t.co/PqSDfmTGbR
Went to the Great Barrier Reef and learned about coral bleaching and how it really impacts the ecosystem. We saw a reef that had previously undergone this process but has regrown! Super great to see there is still hope.
Just filled up my reusable water bottle at the airport instead of buying a one use plastic water bottle. It’s important for each of us to try to limit our plastic waste. Little things we can do like using a reusable water bottle goes a long way!
Extremely necessary to make further regulations and initiatives to protect our ocean. For our group project we focused on overfishing which is a huge issue in marine environments. The government needs to do more to protect the ocean!
#DidYouKnow 55% of Americans believe the government is doing too little to protect the ocean?
If you agree, ask your representatives to support strong protection for our #ocean and Great Lakes by becoming a member of the National Marine Sanctuary Caucus! https://t.co/1pzcl0y5Uj

As someone who comes from California this is a very important issue! Water is a valuable resource and we need to find the balance between conservation and use.
