Two-day visit to @essneutron to directly see the facility and realise the huge InKind contribution made by @BilbaoEss. We are really thrilled by the treatment we received by @essneutron team. An honour for us to see our developments in place to serve neutron science.
@BilbaoEss rigging team has successfully downloaded in its test stand a high-power klystron built by #CPI.
This vacuum electron tube will power the #RFQ of the 3 MeV accelerator under development by @BilbaoEss as a first step of a future “fully-fledged” #HiCANSthe#ARGITU project

@essneutron team were present during the tests at #ThuneEureka facilities.

In operation, the target wheel @essneutron will rotate so that one proton beam pulse strikes each segment of the wheel over the course of a single rotation. When the protons collide with nuclei in the target, #neutrons will be produced!

The 💙 of ESS is a fine piece of engineering delivered from 🇪🇸 In-Kind partner @BilbaoEss. It contains almost 7,000 tungsten bricks, and weights about 5 tonnes.
