Today 1 April 2023 marks 50 years of the implementation of the 5 days 40 hours work week at UWI. Public Sector start working same hours on 15 April 1973. Thanks to the militant UAWU workers strike at UWI in 1972. Michael Manley had the courage to lessen the work week to 40 hours.
