There was a time when the President of the United States spoke and the world stopped to listen.
Every word mattered. Markets moved. Governments reacted. Allies took notes. Adversaries recalculated.
Now?
You open Donald Trump’s Truth Social feed and you don’t know whether to laugh, cry, scream, or just put your phone down and stare silently at the wall.
Today’s feed is basically a perfect snapshot of what every day has become.
The leader of the free world used to speak and it carried weight.
Now the leader of the free world posts… and half the planet reaches for Advil.
And before someone tells me this is just “Trump derangement”: I spent much of the summer in Greece meeting Americans from all over the United States. The sentence I heard over and over again was basically:
“We’re sorry. Please be patient. He won’t be there forever.”
@FoodProfessor Listen to what exactly? All these people have no credibility. All sycophants. It will play the way it will play. Everyone seems to have become an expert on trade, negotiations, economics. Opinions everywhere.
Emanuel: We are not going to invade Greenland, and you shouldn’t pay full price for something Denmark would give you for free. They want a closer relationship. This is, again, a glaring example of why Donald Trump’s companies all went bankrupt—because he’s a rotten businessman.
Britain should repurchase America. After all, it was ours once, and it would enhance our North Atlantic security. If you don’t sell it to us, President Trump, we’re going to impose tariffs on the U.S. and any country who supports you in resisting this very good deal. Fair?
In his latest attempt to keep overpriced home prices from falling so that more people could afford them, Trump will soon unveil a plan to allow homebuyers to use their 401(k)s to fund down payments. That way Americans can deplete their retirement savings to overpay for houses.
