A bruise or cut (if severe enough) can cause fragments of mitochondria to spill into our blood stream causing systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS). Basically caused by our body overreacting to ancient microbes. Nice, even my microbes are dramatic. 🙃 #csubmicrobiome
