The World Bank, through its Grant Facility for Project Preparation (GFPP), approved three new grants this year to boost jobs and reduce poverty in the Philippines, the Department of Finance (DOF) said Friday.

Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac on Monday (March 2, 2026) says they have already talked with the family of Mary Anne de Vera, who died following an Iranian missile attack in Tel Aviv, Israel.

Cacdac said there are around 80 to 100 OFWs in Dubai who already asked to be repatriated. He said there are also a number of repatriation requests from OFWs in Israel, Bahrain and Qatar. However, he stressed that there is a difficulty transporting them by air due to escalating tensions, but assured that the DMW is looking for ways to get them out of there and bring them home.| Marita Moaje

Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) chief Patricia Yvonne Caunan on Monday (March 2, 2026) says the agency has already assisted a total of 768 affected OFWs at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminals 1 and 3, whose flights were affected by the ongoing Middle East tensions.
