@colin_kya @YaserBi @engineers_feed While that is fair. Still was a moving belt going opposite at the same speed which is the same thing. Also I disagree with the previous statement. Thrust is thrust no matter if its a 747 or a J3 Cub. Thrust will move the aircraft forward either way.

It’s really hard to wrap your head around. I initially thought the plane would stay in place, too.

But the wheels only exist to keep the plane from contacting the runway (and for braking). They are kind of irrelevant.

I think the problem is that we have to think about the wheels spinning up to infinity, which our brains aren’t really equipped for. So we assume that can’t happen.

@engineers_feed It would. Engines provide thrust not wheels. Mythbusters proved this already. Engines will push it forwards no matter what.
