🎓 A New Dawn for Karamoja

The Management and Staff of Karamoja Peace and Technology University (KAPATU) announces the inauguration ceremony of the first-ever university in the Karamoja sub-region, scheduled to take place on Sunday, 23rd November 2025, at Christ the King Catholic Parish - Losilang, Kotido Municipality.

#KAPATU is a transformational Nucleus National University established to serve the people of Karamoja and the greater Ateker region. It is a multi-stakeholder initiative of the Catholic Dioceses of Kotido, Moroto, and the Catholic Lawyers Society International.

KAPATU will serve as a hub for human capital development in the region and beyond.

His Excellency Gen. @KagutaMuseveni, President of the Republic of Uganda, will preside over the ceremony as Chief Guest and will also be inaugurated as the Founding Chancellor, and Her Excellency Maj. @jessica_alupo, the Vice President, as Founding Deputy Chancellor. The Main Celebrant will be His Excellency the Apostolic Nuncio to Uganda.

This follows the ratification of Dr. Lihasi’s appointment as the Executive Director by the AFAAS General Assembly sitting in Lilongwe, Malawi on May 15, 2025. She takes over the position with effect from 1st June 2025, when Dr. Silim Nahdy hands over.

Dr. Lihasi was appointed by the AFAAS Board of Directors on 7th March 2025 as designate pending the ratification. She becomes the 2nd Executive Director of AFAAS and brings on board a proven track record in Agricultural Extension and Rural Development.
