Code is just an intermediate layer for humans, not machines. The real shift is up the abstraction stack. High-level languages will go the way of assembler, replaced by even higher-level systems based on plain English (or French etc), specs, tests and constraints. Once AI can reliably turn intent into correct execution, source code becomes a disposable artefact.

TDD (Test Driven Development) used to be slower, but led to more reliable code.
With AI agents, I think that’s flipping to: — it’s now way faster and still more reliable.
That changes everything.
