Michigan fans had to tirelessly defend their national championship they won with one of the biggest cheating scandals in CFB history
Now they’re having to defend their rigged win over Western Michigan
That’s… quite the downgrade
Who remembers last year when Ohio State’s headsets died on Michigan’s sideline?
Ryan Day said he had an “inkling” it was coming
Big Ten called it a power supply issue. Never explained what failed. Never explained why only the visitors went dark
Saturday, that same stadium found an extra second when Michigan needed one
Funny how the glitches in Ann Arbor only ever break one way
Jeff Sagarin, an official NCAA-recognized National Championship selector, chooses to recognize Western Michigan’s 12-7 win over Michigan in his ratings this season.
Imagine. Head coach standing on sideline next to a ref waiting to call a last second time out (common). Clicks to 1, calls time out, told “sorry, the official clock ran to zero. Game over.” This is what the NCAA / B10 has now created/allowed.
You’re telling me they can sync the game clock with officials every commercial break in this FSU/SMU game…
And you expect me to believe that nonsense the Big Ten sent us last Saturday night?
TV does accurately display the time, so everyone watching including coaches and players can gauge it. Unfortunately the @bigten and their replay officials offer an explanation to justify something else. Totally ludicrous. @bigten should be embarrassed & ashamed; but I bet not. 🤦🏻
Which one is it?
A. Clock hit zero in front of everyone and the game is over.
OR
B. There is a super-better clock that no one can see, and has never come up before, and only the refs in the booth have access to.
“We’ll have 2 clocks sir?”
“Yes soldier. One the fans, coaches, players and announcers can see…and no one only 2 people can see”
“Which on will we use sir?”
“No one knows”
That's a hostage statement. Let me translate:
"The B1G reminded us how much our member institutions rely on paycheck games and warned that if we didn't STFU about the obvious theft of the game last night, there are plenty of other teams who would take those slots in the future."
To express just how dangerous this is, in theory, it could go both ways.
Imagine a coach calling a timeout with one second left to attempt a game winning field goal only for the league to call down and inform everybody their special clock actually ran out and the game is over.
Sorry coach. You weren’t basing decisions on the scoreboard clock were you?
I used to be a camera operator for Auburn Athletics and worked many college football games for ESPN and SEC network. The Big Ten is lying to you and fabricated evidence for Michigan to have an extra play at the end of the game against Western Michigan. The stadium clock is the standard. Not whatever the replay booth decides it is.
I’ve been saying this for decades, and @joelklatt says it now and that’s the bottom line. We’ll have bad or missed calls from time to time, but these blame said Conference officials, and replay booths can easily be remedied. One National office with games assigned outside this or that League office. 👇
You just told everyone the cameras were strobe-synced 85 minutes before kickoff to guarantee alignment.
Then the broadcast clock and your clock disagreed by a full second on the last play of the game.
One of those two things is false. Pick which one and show your work.
