Passionate about anything in cloud services, spatial tech, Azure, Agile delivery, DevOps, security. (was) principal architect behind OS Getamap. Scouter.
This is always a very depressing sight 🫠
Retiring 53 Tranche 1 Typhoon’s without replacement was an absolutely CRIMINAL act.
Even if their role was relegated to QRA and basic air defence, it would still be 53 active jets to defend the country.
The USAF maintain F-15C/D’s in air defence roles and are operated by the national guard. Could we not create reserve flying squadrons that operate the older jets?
We’re stretching a fleet of 107 do do QRA in the UK & Falklands, Op Shader 2x day in Cyprus, various NATO duties and general training.
For the ignorant Americans who don't understand what US Aid to Ukraine actually looks like, please read and share this list:
- The vast majority of the military aid we're providing Ukraine comes directly from existing U.S. military stockpiles.
- These weapons aren't brand new; they're mostly older stockpiles that the U.S. military planned to replace anyway.
- The funding approved by Congress actually goes to American companies (like Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, and Boeing) to build new, upgraded weapons for OUR OWN military.
- This helps the American economy:
Supports thousands of American jobs
Strengthens American manufacturing
Ensures our military gets newer, better weapons
- Ukraine gets help against Putin's aggression. From his military's horrific violations against innocent women and children.
- America gets stronger, safer, and better equipped in the process.
@TankMuseum they found another Covenanter in the same vineyard in 2017. really poor state having been buried in the chalk hills by the Canadians(?) before DDAY.
Was wondering why #Microsoft#Outlook#spam filtering wasn't working, till I found out the spammers are using #utf8 trickery to bypass email antispam/reputation checks😡

A quick thread on why #driverlesstrains to replace those allegedly overpaid 'button pushers' who drive them isn't going to happen any time soon. Please feel free to quote and retweet to those who believe otherwise. So, where do we start? Well, firstly, driverless trains...
Here’s the thing folks. I’ve been coding 32 years. When something like this happens it’s an organizational failure. Yes, some human wrote a bad line. Someone can “git blame” and point to a human and it’s awful. But it’s the testing, the Cl/CD, the A/B testing, the metered rollouts, an oh shit button to roll it back, the code coverage, the static analysis tools, the code reviews, the organizational health, and on and on. It’s always one line of code but it’s NEVER one person. Implying inclusion policies caused a bug is simplistic, reductive, and racist. Engineering is a team sport. Inclusion makes for good teams. Good engineering practices makes for good software. Engineering practices failed to find a bug multiple times, regardless of the seniority of the human who checked that code in. Solving the larger system thinking SDLC matters more than the null pointer check. This isn’t a “git gud C++ is hard” issue and it damn well isn’t an DEI one.
So for some reason, news media is saying "most famous for his role in Hunger Games". I beg to differ. Oddball was the model tanker for generations of US armor branch crewmen, and I suspect those of other nations too.
The mind boggles that an individual worth billions is asking people to *donate* to appeal their court decision. Can't see that being a successful tactic for a 'poorer' mortal.
