I haven't posted here in months and was very slow to move to other places. And I (obv) still haven't deleted my account.
But this is the first time I've checked back in a while and... you're all just, still here? Posting? Like everything's normal?
Like I say, late to leave & haven't deleted my account yet, so can't be all holier than thou even if I wanted to be. But, even so, feel this needs to be said.
Catch you somewhere else.
Hey everyone ๐
The billionaire owner of this platform is calling for civil war in the UK again. Might be time to call it a day and start posting somewhere else?
Twitter's gone. It was great once, but X is nothing more than a tool of the far right. We'd all do well to leave.
Met a lot of great people here. Really valued it at one time. But it's done. It's long been riddled with bots, brain rot and is basically now a platform for normalising and propagating extremism.
Fairly astonished to see so many people I know kinda ๐คทโโ๏ธ to this.
@MurphyNiallGLA@NeilMackay@GlasgowHeritage It's added video capability recently, and I find the free version of Buffer's a useful way round scheduling things - at least until they add that in-app. It's worth making the jump!
@MurphyNiallGLA@hughp1970@GlasgowCarlo@GlasgowHeritage This is really surprising. Lack of active frontage / ground floor retail is a bit of a problem in the more urban new build areas, especially along main streets (Gorbals St for example, of the new corner building at Nithsdale Dr). At this location it's all the more disappointing.
@ReplacetheM8@UserrReb Private ownership of the entirety of the riverside (and subsequent inability to masterplan anything or effect organised change) is the short answer.
Different types of roads, different contexts: but putting it really simply, this is what we should be doing re. the Woodside Viaduct and Townhead Interchange segments of the M8.
@UrbanistTOC@joel_ca_c@GlasgowYIMBY Yeah, that does add to the weird, unwelcoming vibe. Only people there as I passed were 3 security guards patrolling around in high viz with walkie talkies. I guess the retail units aren't all let & general lack of residents nearby doesn't help. Coalescence of a few problems tbh.
@joel_ca_c@GlasgowYIMBY Well yeah it is really busy during the week, especially at lunchtime as people in offices sit by the river. It's noticeable how empty it is outside of those times though, despite the fairly good placemaking. Maybe that'll change as the rest of Tradeston develops.
Secret hack for councils struggling with potholes: reallocate road space to active travel, enable more people to walk or cycle their everyday journeys & watch those road repair bills shrink.
๐ Added bonus - healthier constituents & reduced health costs.
First use of the renfrew bridge(yoker side) I was technically cycling but really more like walking over on this attempt, ready to stop within cm's. I think depending on how busy it is, where I am heading I may use the carriageway here at times. The right path seemed most obvious.
