Just released a fun app I made with @phun ! You build a 'recipe' out of emojis and then it crafts some pretty cute and wild creatures! Try it out, share your creations and let me know what you think!
@mulligan I agree. And I place my vote on paying employees properly and raising the cost of the product as necessary to make business work. Transparency.
@awwstn Good call out! Also, Pixels are pretty great phones. I'm not going to say better than iPhones and get flamed to death, but your point that Google makes a lot of good products is fair. They also could make them a lot better, given their resources... <sigh>
@TheRealFergs@chfritz But at the cost of having to live up to expectations or die!
What makes the underwriter decide to make the deal happen or not? Surely any old company can't find a path to a reverse merger whenever they want.
@TheRealFergs@chfritz Thanks, that's helpful. I think if I'm understanding this right, it's a good deal for the owner of the other company (or, "company") because they get paid upfront.
@TheRealFergs@chfritz Do you know anything about the other company involved in the reverse merger? I've been trying to understand how this happened since I heard about it... Who does it make sense for? From my ignorant vantage point, it's hard to see who wins in this deal.
@bznotes I appreciate this. My pet peeve about living in the startup world is the absolute certainty with which advice is often given. It's a known fact that no one knows the answer to most hard startup problems. If anyone did, every company they worked on would be a winner. #humility
@MikellTaylor I always just went, no pretending necessary. MIT was great like that. Maybe still is, but I kind of think they locked things down around peak COVID times.
@polotek Here's another real example that's similar to yours, which I'll share so folks can see how this will expand:
My wife is a prof. One of her prof friends is using ChatGPT to write grad school recommendations. They're incredibly plausible. They're also 100% fabricated from nothing.
@MacConwell Along similar lines, this is well worth the listen:
