The fact that Ben Gvir is a lunatic is not new. When a lunatic is made a Minister, lunatic actions are only to be expected. Hence, all blame lies squarely on the shoulders of the person who appointed him.
Elections in Israel are growing ever closer. It is the fervent hope of so many of us that we will soon awaken from the nightmare that this Government is, and that Israel will once again revert to the normalcy it so deeply deserves. Haters will continue to hate us and Hamas, Hizbollah and this Iranian regime will still adhere to their murderous aims, but only a leadership which puts the country and its citizens first can propel us and the Palestinians to a new future.
Netanyahu has once again led the country toward the path of self-defeat. If the war aims were not achieved, and they weren't, the war was lost from Israel's perspective, whether or not Iran did or didn't win. War isn't a soccer game, and there is no such thing as a tie.
@suhasinih The overwhelming majority of the casualties in Lebanon, perhaps 80%, were Hizbollah terrorists intent on mass slaughter and Israel's extinction. Sad that you "forgot" to mention that hence giving the impression that they were peaceful Lebanese going about their daily lives.
I fully agree with you, Geeta. The region has changed, perhaps forever as you say, but without leadership which offers hope and vision for a new future for Israelis and Palestinians alike, the change may well be for the worse. Our current government offers neither. Both of our peoples, and yes, certainly the Iranian people too, deserve so much more.
The settlers running amok in the West Bank, carrying out almost daily pogroms, are terrorists. The government says nothing, their rabbinical leaders keep their mouths shut, the settlement movement leadership is silent. They are all complicit in murder and terror.
Suhasini -you have always been a serious respected commentator on the Middle East, but in the past few weeks you have sadly discarded that and have become just another repeater of the "Israel is always in the wrong" crowd . Many of us are more opposed to Netanyahu than you are, but we are also opposed to the medieval Jihadist cult leading Iran that has threatened our lives for 47 years. Please revert to your earlier "self" ASAP. A number of your recent tweets are beyond the bounds of the journalism we had come to expect.
Not a word about the cluster bombs Iran is directing at the Israeli civilian population or the targeting of cities by Hizballah missiles. Sad to see you descending from serious journalism, critical of Israel (which many of us agreed with) to pure Israel-hating propaganda. Before it is too late, please revert back to your earlier and intelligent commentary which we respected so much.
Neither the US Administration or the Israeli Govt. determined that the aim of the war was the fall of the regime. So to claim that the war will continue until the regime falls is misleading and frankly wrong. I fear that Ms. Hassan will be forced to retract her words when the war ends and the Iranian regime still stands.
@suhasinih@raisinadialogue Surely there must come a time when rehashing official statements made by spokesmen of a murderous jihadist medieval death cult becomes redundant. Could you point to proof of the millions of Iranians he referred to? Do you, as a serious journalist, actually believe him?
