ATTENTION ALL RECRUITS 🚨
The recruiting landscape is changing faster than ever.
With the new 5-for-5 rule, the transfer portal, coaching changes, and roster movement, one thing is becoming very clear:
Don’t put all your eggs in one basket.
Too many athletes build their entire recruiting plan around one or two “dream schools.” The reality is that college recruiting is fluid. A roster can change overnight. A coach can leave. A program’s needs can shift without warning.
The athletes who find success are the ones who cast a wide net.
🎯 Build relationships with schools at every level.
📧 Stay in consistent communication with coaches.
🥎 Attend camps where you’re a realistic fit (have contact with coach prior to attending)
🎓 Keep an open mind—you may discover a school that’s an even better match than the one you originally had in mind.
Your goal isn’t just to get recruited.
Your goal is to find the right fit academically, athletically, financially, and personally. This is a 40 year decision not a 4 year decision.
The wider your net, the more opportunities you’ll create.
Don’t limit your future before college coaches have the chance to discover you.
— Coach Jennifer Turner
I am honored to have made first team selection for first coast times union. After a rough first year it is so exciting to see all of those unseen moments of hardwork and dedication coming to light. I would love to appreciate all of my teammates and coaches. I wouldn’t have been able to achieve this without you. GO TOROS🤘🧡
I saw a parent post that their athlete was “open to D2, D3, NAIA, and JUCO.”
As if those were the backup plan.
Y’all have got to let go of this D1-or-bust mentality… or you’re gonna bust.
The recruiting landscape has changed. The 5-in-5 settlement, roster limits, the transfer portal, and shifting scholarship opportunities have changed how coaches build their rosters.
Especially 2027s. Yes, there are still some D1 spots left. But not many.
And here’s what so many families are missing…
There are more than 1,500 college softball programs in the U.S.
• 309 D1
• 260 D2
• 420 D3
• 195 NAIA
• 365 JUCO
Why would you ignore over 1,200 opportunities just because they don’t have a D1 label?
Stop chasing a logo.
Start chasing the right fit.
The goal isn’t to say you played Division I.
The goal is to find the place where you’re wanted, developed, challenged, and can earn your degree while continuing to play the game you love.
