Nothing strange about it. Deliberate evisceration of public service practice & culture. Staff gone, money gone, pointless privitization chasing pot of gold in endless churn of umpteen part podcasts. To quote Hemingway 'slowly & then suddenly all at once' , that's the BBC now.
Ironically, given that the LA Times has just bottled it entirely, along with the craven Wash Post, there's a good piece by Michael Hitzik on the plays agit history.

Fantastic, perfect timing. Wondered who was going to do this. So bravo Mike Walker & BBC team. First staged Oct 27th, 1936 in 21 theatres & 17 states as one of the wonders of Hallie Flannegan's Federal Theatre Project. They had to drag the script out of a soused Sinclair Lewis.

Deeply saddened at the departure of ten Hag, a fellow who always looked like one of those doomed hard men in a bad Van Damme film. He has brought football fans everywhere immense pleasure. He will be missed, much like the open goals by his rubbish
Just a question and maybe I’m wrong. Have we moved in recent years from an era dominated by introverted radio presenters to one of more extroverted presenters?

BBC public service radio, as was,has become a wasteland in just a few years. Hollowed out. An entire production culture sold off, destroyed. Say hello to the capitalist wing of radio, STUDIOS. Tim Davie & his Goodfellah's centenary gift https://t.co/XlpZAC9O4z via @YouTube
