The Philippine Red Cross conducted health tips and distributed Doxycycline, a prophylactic agent to treat leptospirosis, to flooded communities in Mega Manila and Luzon.

Over 500 individuals have received the medicine. Red Cross staff explained that without immediate and proper treatment, leptospirosis can damage the kidneys and cause liver failure. Children and pregnant women, however, cannot take the medication.

The Health Caravan has deployed at flood affected areas with services such as medical consultation, medicine provision, etc on June 20, 2024. A total of 24 volunteers ( including 1 doctor, 3 nurses, and 20 support volunteers) were deployed. A CEA feedback desk was also established, gathering 16 feedback/messages.

Health Caravan has reached more than 150 people in first day. The health caravan will continue until early next week to assist the people of flood affected areas.
