“You’re letting children starve!”

Funny how the same people never seemed nearly as upset about the actual audit trail.

Apparently “humanitarian aid” means $17 million in food sitting in Djibouti warehouses instead of reaching emergency providers. Some of it spoiled because of defective packaging. Another $1.5 million became infested after temperature controls allegedly weren’t enforced. Taxpayers ate nearly half a million dollars just storing unusable food.

Apparently it means American-funded equipment ending up in Houthi hands.

Apparently it means continuing to fund UNRWA while investigators cited evidence that 101 employees or associates had ties to terror groups including Hamas ... among them teachers and school officials allegedly serving as squad leaders, intelligence operatives, snipers, and participants connected to October 7.

Apparently it also means a bribery scheme involving a USAID contracting officer and three businessmen, complete with cash, NBA tickets, and a country-club wedding, tied to roughly $550 million in contracts.

And one of the companies was later positioned for another award worth up to $800 million before the watchdog stepped in over concerns about “business honesty or integrity.”

When fraud surfaced in Zimbabwe and Zambia, federal prosecution was declined.

Yet the second anyone suggests tighter controls or fewer blank checks, the same crowd starts screaming about compassion.

Compassion is not an audit.

Rotting food is not a moral argument.

Stolen equipment and terror-linked recipients are not some unavoidable “cost of doing good.”

If your entire case against the cuts is moral outrage while you ignore the inspector-general reports, you’re not defending the hungry.

You’re defending the system that kept failing them ... and the taxpayers who paid for it.
